Holiday Season

I hope that this message finds you all well. Christmas was great! I hope that it was for all of you too. Christmas Eve I went to a Christmas Eve service at Community Bible Church, which was beautiful. I saw a beautiful service and celebrated the true meaning of Christmas with some of our friends, Calvin and Seneca. Shawn was busy finishing up Christmas gifts for me (our website) and making a custom rod for a friend of his dad.

Christmas Day was spent with Shawn's family. It was a fun day filled with wonderful food and lots of people that we care about. We had a great time with a game of White Elephant Christmas. The gifts were interesting to say the least. Memories made that day will last in our minds for years to come. Shawn and I left the event with a Christmas homemade movie of our extended cousins and two games!!!

Saturday was our Christmas event with Shawn's family. We got a chance to see our niece Kylie and Logan open their Christmas gifts. It was a nice evening and it is always fun to watch children open gifts. Kylie had a great time opening her gifts and helped her brother open his as well. Being around family during this time of year makes all the things that happen throughout the year worth it. Family is the most important thing we all have, our gifts to each other each day. While my family, for the most part, is far away from me I still carry them with me everywhere I go. This includes my immediate family and the family that my wonderful husband has given me by our marriage.
Merry Christmas and best wishes to all of you in the new year!!! We love you all :)

New to the blogging scene

Shawn and I are new to this blogging thing and I thought that it would be a good way to keep our family and friends up to date on what is going on in our lives as well as give us a "journal" to look back on. As most of you know, I am in a master's program in Midland, TX and Shawn is in San Antonio, TX keeping our house in order. It is not easy for us to be separated from each other but we know that in the end it will all be worth it.
I have been in Midland for about six and a half months now. It has been a long road full of tests but it is coming to an end for this semester. This is the finals week of this semester and home is right in my reach. I am excited to go home and spend time with so many people that I rarely get to see anymore. Being separated from people that you care about really makes you realize how important they were to you and how you may have taken them being there for granted. I will never take any real friendships for granted again. Friends are so hard to come by and it is always nice to know that someone is there for you when you need them.
Shawn is doing well in San Antonio. He is working for a door company called Trinity and they seem to be good people. You do not always get an opportunity to work for people that you feel comfortable around and that have good morals behind them also. It is a different job and Shawn has been given a lot more responsibility, but as you all know Shawn is good at everything that he does!!!
I hope to posting more things on here as time goes by. Next semester is said to be one of the hardest, so I will check in from time to time. August 2009 is when clinicals start so I am sure that I will have a lot of interesting stories from my trials and tribulations with clinicals. Shawn I am sure will keep all of you updated on his latest fishing adventures and rod buildings also.
We hope that you all are doing well and will check in periodically....

Much love,
The Queeney Family
